Open Image Repositories

The public collections of Artstor offer approximately 1 million freely accessible images, videos, documents, and audio files from library special collections, faculty research, and institutional history materials, as well as hundreds of thousands of open access images from the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Anyone may view and download these collections, no subscription or login required, but consult the rights data in each record to see if and how an image can be reused.

Free Nature Stock contains royalty-free CC0 nature stock photos and videos. Use them however you want.

Getty Images contains royalty-free images from the one of the best photo libraries available. It is a supplier of stock images, editorial photography, video, and music for businesses and consumers, with an archive of over 200 million assets.

Pexels contains free stock photos you can use everywhere. Free for commercial use. No attribution required.

Pixabay is a website for sharing photos, illustrations, vector graphics, film footage, and music. On Pixabay, users can find and contribute quality images and footage films. For uploading files and downloading full sized images, a free registration is required. By uploading files, the contributors waive their copyright and related image rights.

Public Domain Archive contains 100% free public domain images. No attribution required. 

Unsplash contains free images and photos that can be downloaded and used. 
Wikimedia Commons is an online repository of free-use images, sounds, and other media. The repository contains over 66 million free media files. It is a project of the Wikimedia Foundation.
