All students automatically have an account in the library system and may check out up to 10 items at a time. Faculty and N.C. residents can easily get a library card (photo ID required) anytime at the library main desk.
You may renew most books one time, for an additional three week checkout period.

If you lose an item, we will charge the cost of the item.
The library is located in the R building on the Surry Community College main campus in Dobson, NC. The R building is near the center of campus, right above the tennis courts.
Most library materials are searchable through our search box. Visit the library homepage to search. If you have problems finding what you need, please contact us.
The library offers citing guides to help you cite your sources. We will also help you in person at the library, or you can chat 24/7 with an online librarian.

Yes. If an item is checked out, call the library at 336-386-3259 to have the item held for you. You MUST identify a valid library card number when placing the hold. We will notify you via email and/or phone when the item has been returned and hold it for pickup for 5 business days.
No. In general, the library does not carry textbooks for your classes. You may purchase textbooks from the bookstore. Faculty may contact the bookstore to request a textbook be sent to the library and kept on reserve behind the library main desk.
All current students, faculty, and staff may access our online collection. Search our library website. You will be prompted to enter your SCC username and password when trying to access the material. Contact the Technology Services Help Desk at helpdesk@surry.edu or 336-386-3434 if you need username/password assistance.
Library users that are not currently affiliated with SCC may access NC LIVE resources and other online collections available through the local public library system. A public library card number if often your password into these resources.
The Academic Support Center is located on the 2nd floor of the library (R building). The ASC offers in-person and online tutoring. Contact asc@surry.edu or 336-386-3460 for more information.
While we do not encourage donations, we will accept donations with the understanding that library staff will make the determination about whether the book is added to the collection, sold through book sale, or recycled. We will provide a deed of gift for any donations.
