Attorney General

The Attorney General leads the N.C. Department of Justice, and provides legal representation to state agencies, assists local law enforcement, provides training and standards, and protects consumers.

Auditor

The State Auditor has broad powers to examine all books, records, files, papers, documents, and financial affairs of every state agency.

Commissioner of Agriculture

The Commissioner of Agriculture leads the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services' divisions that have responsibility in regulatory and service areas covering agronomy, animal health, gas and oil inspection, food, drug, and cosmetic testing, and more.

Commissioner of Insurance

The Commissioner of Insurance regulates the insurance industry in N.C., licenses insurance professionals in the state, educates consumers about different types of insurance, and handles consumer complaints.

Commissioner of Labor

The Commissioner of Labor is the head of the N.C. Department of Labor, which promotes the "health, safety and general well-being" of the workers of the state.

Secretary of State

The Secretary of State leads the N.C. Department of the State, which oversees many of the economic and business-related operations of the state government.

Superintendent of Public Instruction

The Superintendent of Public Instruction is the elected head of the N.C. Department of Public Instruction and oversees the public school systems of the state.

Treasurer

As the chief financial officer and official banker, the Treasurer is responsible for managing the finances of the entire state.
